WatchPoint is a comprehensive enterprise-wide network monitoring and reporting solution,
collecting and aggregating data from multiple network resources. Information about network
performance, top talkers, and overall network utilization is presented via a flexible web-based
graphical interface. Summary and detailed reports are easily generated in many popular formats
directly from your web browser.
WatchPoint is a highly flexible and scalable system, allowing for the deployment of one or more
WatchPoint appliances as the number of network elements under management grows. The following
diagram illustrates how various WatchPoint appliances might be deployed in a network where
NetFlow,
sFlow, and
OmniFlow
data are all being monitored simultaneously.
Key Features
Aggregates data from all sources into a single network view
In-depth network analysis with WildPackets Expert events
Baseline monitoring
Custom alerts/alarms based on any monitored data
Scheduled PDF reports
Allows for custom displays for each user
Supports both IE and Firefox
With WatchPoint, Network Engineers and IT Staff Can:
Monitor the entire network from a single dashboard anywhere there is network
connectivity, responding immediately to network trends before they become problems
Instantly transform WildPackets
OmniEngine distributed network analysis
deployments into a centrally managed monitoring solution for distributed enterprise networks
Find the haystack, then find the needle - perform all levels of network
analysis, from global monitoring to detailed analysis of individual IP packets,
using a single solution
Balance cost vs. visibility vs. data access - statistics only from
NetFlow
and
sFlow
and complete analysis from WildPackets OmniEngines
Customize the WatchPoint dashboard for each individual user, giving each
user access to exactly the data needed to be effective
Easily extend the capabilities of WatchPoint with customized gadgets developed
against standard technologies (HTML, Javascript, SQL)
The OmniFlow Collector appliance includes everything needed to perform the key
WatchPoint functions.
It collects OmniFlow data from multiple Omnipliance Network Recorders
and stores the results for subsequent query by the WatchPoint server to be displayed via
any supported web browser.
OmniFlow data is a rich set of network-based statistics unlike that from any
other "flow-based" technology. OmniFlow leverages the analytical power of
WildPackets OmniEngine network probes and Omnipliance data recorders,
providing not just the traditional "flow-based" information on port and nodes, but adding
Expert analysis results based on real-time network analysis.
WildPackets Experts automatically identify network anomalies as they happen,
at whatever layer of the OSI model, and correlate this information with traditional
"flow-based" data like utilization, nodes and protocols. With OmniFlow data you'll
see not only the spike in your utilization, but the possible causes of the anomaly as well,
all from the same network monitoring dashboard.
As the number of distinct network segments that you wish to monitor grows,
additional OmniFlow Collectors can be deployed to maximize scalability and performance.
Only one WatchPoint Server is needed regardless of the size of the network being monitored.
The WatchPoint NetFlow Collector appliance processes and stores NetFlow
traffic from NetFlow-enabled network devices, including Cisco routers and switches.
When using WatchPoint to monitor NetFlow data,
at least one WatchPoint NetFlow Collector and one WatchPoint
Server must be deployed - the WatchPoint NetFlow Collector processes and stores the data,
while the WatchPoint Server supplies the Dashboard functionality needed to format and
display the results.
The WatchPoint sFlow Collector appliance processes and stores sFlow
traffic from sFlow-enabled Network devices, including network routers and switches from Foundry Networks, xxx, and others.
When using WatchPoint to monitor sFlow data, at least one WatchPoint sFlow Collector
and one WatchPoint Server must be deployed - the WatchPoint sFlow Collector processes
and stores the data, while the WatchPoint Server supplies the Dashboard functionality needed
to format and display the results.
